Read More about Me
I am uniquely positioned to help parents understand the emotional and behavioral challenges their children are experiencing. My background in education coupled with my experience in therapeutic services helps me to understand the whole child and pass that understanding onto the parent or caregiver.
My counseling approach is rooted in the belief that everyone has in them the ability to create a life they are happy to live, if they so choose. If that means one desires to change their current circumstances then they will find a way to do that successfully. Life is sure to be messy at times, which I believe encourages us to shift and grow. I know that with the right tools children, tweens, teens and their families can be well equipped to flow through even the most difficult shifts.
My approach is direct and supportive. My techniques are mindfully based and solution focused. I incorporate play therapy into my work with younger children and prefer to use an approach called Acceptance Commitment Therapy with adolescents and emerging adolescents (tweens). ACT for adolescents is a proven effective technique for encouraging behavioral shifts in as little as 10 therapeutic sessions!
I loved learning about some of the greatest psychotherapists of modern times and often draw inspiration from Carl Jung and his teachings. I am a realist by nature and I like to use the facts of one’s situation to help find a solution that is cradled in honesty and integrity. I strive to focus on my client’s strengths and desires to move them quickly to their goals of growth and self-actualization. Please reach out if you have more questions about how I can help you or your family.
“ If there is anything we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could be better changed in ourselves”
